Government launches 'GST Rates Finder' app for consumers


Ministry of Finance launched an app – GST Rates Finder – on Friday to allow consumers verify the accurate tax rate on commodity and services under the Goods and Services Tax (GST) regime. The application has been launched on Android platform, and is expected to be unveiled for iOS users shortly.


GST Rates Finder app would also work in offline mode, once downloaded on the smartphones by the users. Apart from the mobile application, the ‘GST Rates Finder’ section has been uploaded on the online portal cbec-gst.gov.in to help taxpayers know applicable GST rate on their supplies.
“A taxpayer can search for applicable CGST, SGST, UTGST rate and Compensation Cess on a supply. The search can be made based on description of goods or services or HSN Chapter or section or heading number. These initiatives are aimed to serve as a ready reckoner on GST rates,” the Ministry of Finance said in a series of tweets through the official handle.
Mobile app “GST Rates Finder” is available on android platform and will soon be available on iOS platform. 
This mobile app can be downloaded on any smartphone and can work in offline mode, once downloaded. Through this app, user can determine GST rate for a good or a service by entering the name or chapter heading of the commodity or service. he search result will list all the Goods and Services containing the name which was typed in the search box.
The launch of the app by CBEC was done with a sole purpose of facilitating the ease of doing business in India initiative.

Here’s how you can use GST Rates Finder App?
  • Download the app “GST Rates Finder” on your smartphones
  • Once downloaded, it can work in offline mode
  • Enter the name or chapter heading of the commodity or service to determine the GST rate of a good/service
  • The search result will list all the Goods and Services containing the name which was typed in the search box

NITI Aayog launches SATH Program

NITI Aayog has launched SATH-‘Sustainable Action for Transforming Human capital’ with the State Governments for furthering the agenda of cooperative federalism.  NITI Aayog under the SATH initiative plans to identify and build three future ‘role model’ states for health systems.   After identification of three states, NITI Aayog will work in close collaboration with the state machinery of these three states. Nirbhaya Rapists To Hang, Says Top Court, Refers To Her 'Dying Declaration'

The Supreme Court has confirmed death for four convicts in Nirbhaya gang-rape case in Delhi. A 23-year-old student was gang-raped and tortured on her way back home.
